How to Enable Hibernate in Windows 8.1 Latest Version
The Hibernate option is the most useful command in Windows. Hibernate uses less power than sleep and avoids closing of the running application and documents when a user shutdowns the system. It entails that the Hibernate mode uses zero power and when a computer is powered back on, it will resume everything where you left off though it is not as fast as sleep. If you know that you will not use the laptop for an extended period and you don’t have an opportunity to charge the battery during that time; here you can use the Hibernate option. So here i am describing you three alternate ways to Enable Hibernate option in Windows 8.1.
Steps to Enable Hibernate in Windows 8.1
For enabling hibernate there are two ways to go. Just follow the steps to enable the Hibernate. In much Windows 8 system, “ +X” does not have the Shutdown option so can proceed in the below way:
First Method to enable Hibernate in Windows 8.1.
- Open the “Power Option” by swiping right click on ‘Start’ button. You can also press +X to open the power option.

- After that, just click on “Power options” shown in second place from top in the tab.

- Now you will be directed to power options. Here click on “Choose what the power buttons do”.

- After clicking on Choose what the power buttons do, click on “Change Settings that are currently available.”

- Scroll Down the page you will find some options. Now ticks on “Hibernate Box,” then save the changes. The hibernate mode in windows 8.1 will be enabled.

- After whole process click on “Save Changes.”

Second Method to enable Hibernate in Windows 8.1.
- Press +R.
- Type “powercfg.cpl” in the given box and click on ‘OK.’
- Now you will be directed to power options. Here click on “Choose what the power buttons do”.
- After clicking on Choose what the power buttons do, click on “Change Settings that are currently available.”
- Scroll Down the page you will find some options. Now ticks on “Hibernate Box,” then save the changes. The hibernate mode in windows 8.1 will be enabled.
- After whole process click on “Save Changes.”
Third Method to Enable Hibernate in Windows 8.1.
- Press +x or right click on start option.
- After that, just click on “Control Panel” shown in fourth place from bottom in the tab and click on ‘Control Panel’ option.
- Click on ‘Hardware and Sound’.
- Now you will be directed to power options. Here click on “Choose what the power buttons do”.
- After clicking on Choose what the power buttons do, click on “Change Settings that are currently available.”
- Scroll Down the page you will find some options. Now ticks on “Hibernate Box,” then save the changes. The hibernate mode in windows 8.1 will be enabled.
- After whole process click on “Save Changes.”
Choose on of these three methods to Enable Hibernate in windows 8.1. For directly shut down option you can press alt+f4 where you will able to put your system in Hibernate mode also.
