How to create a website?

You must be thinking that after coming this far in the digital industry, why am I talking about a tutorial about how to create a website. But trust me every now and then we all need to return to the basic so that we can keep our mind clear of all the confusions popping up in our mind. This post is a tutorial in a simple language explaining the correct set of steps to be followed to create a great website. Let’s see those important steps.

  1. Get Your Domain Name – We all know that to recognize somebody or something you need to know it’s name which is a particular identity assigned to it. Similar is the case with Your Website to get it recognized you first need to choose an appropriate name. This name is called a Domain name. For example the website you are reading this article on is called . To own or purchase a domain name you will have to pay an annual fee to the registrar to own the rights of that name. I hope you don’t consider getting a name is getting a website, no it’s not. Understand it this way, this is like registering a business name but this doesn’t mean that you have also registered for a shop or office premise. There are certain ways to choose the correct domain name for your website for example your domain name should be your website name, you may choose generic or brand names, long or short names, hyphenated names etc.

  1. Choose From Huge Market of Web Host – A Web Host, in a simple language, is a company which has got many computers connected to the internet. When you start placing your web pages on their computers the world will be able to see them too. All you need to do is to choose a web hosting company, create an account so that your website has a home. You can find many types of hosting companies and choose from them what suits your demands best. Choosing a Web Hosting company has many steps that depends upon your requirement like which type of Hosting you need dedicated or dynamic hosting, reliability and speed access, file type and size limitations, technical support, SSL, multiple domain hosting and sub-domain and many more.

  1. Your Web Page Design  – After you are done choosing domain name and hosting services now comes the time to choose a design(theme) for your website to give it a face where people can visit, stay and get what they want. In this post I am assuming that you are going to do this by yourself but if you are hiring a web designer then you may skip this entire step and your designer will do everything for you. Although a lot needs to be done to design a web page but for starters you should go the WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) way on the web. There are available numerous services on the internet that provide you to build a web design by yourself in a visual way leaving behind all the technical stuff. Believe me they work like just a word processor. There are available some good commercial web editors like Dreamweaver, Free HTML Editors, WYSIWYG web editors and many more.

  1. Website Testing  – Actually this step should fall under the web designing point but I am stating it separately to give more prominence to it. After the designing part is done all you need to do is test your website and web pages separately too. You need to test your web design in major browsers like Chrome, Opera, Firefox and Safari. All these browsers are free and can be obtained very easily but unfortunately directly testing your website live on these browsers is the only way to be sure that your website works fine with all these browsers so that you may gain as many visitors as possible.

  1. Get Your Site Noticed – After everything is done from domain name selection to the testing of website now the most crucial part comes into light that is to get your website noticed on the digital medium and to do so you need to get your website listed on major search engines like Google and Bing. You need to submit your website to these to search engines. Apart from doing this you also should spread it through other mediums like PR websites to submit interesting press releases, Start-up promoter websites and of course on social media.
